Kovalam Beach, Travel to Kerala

The morning belongs to the fishermen, who bring the fishing boats from the sea using thick coir ropes. As the day progresses tourists and sunbathers throng the beach. The festive-like ambience fills the air of Kovalam beach till late in the evening.

Getting Around in Kovalam Beach
:

Unlike many other beaches of India Kovalam is spread along three crescent beaches separated by rocky promontories. They are Samudra Beach, the Hawah Beach and the Lighthouse Beach. Samdudra is the quietest and the most posh of the three. Hawah and Lighthouse are generally bustling with lined up eateries, hotels and shops.

Not far from Kovalam is Vizhinzam Harbour, an ostensibly tiny fisherman’s village. From here one can get a picturesque view of the bay with rows of colourful boats dancing with the waves.
The crescent-shaped beaches of Kovalam can be divided in three parts. The southern most beach, and the most popular, is the Lighthouse Beach. Further south on the beach one can have a spectacular view of the Vizhinzam mosque. Photography is prohibited here.

The middle beach is called Hawah. Each morning this beach acts as a base for the local fisherman.

The northern most beach, Samudra, is least affected of all by the changing times. It is dotted with few rudimentary wooden fishing vessels.

In the evening the quiet atmosphere of the place is enlivened by Kathakali performances, the classical dance-drama of Kerala. This mellow Kerala coastal village was once a picturesque settlement built next to two palm-fringed coves enclosed by rocky headlands, but development has been almost unplanned.

  1. great information about Kovalam, Kovalam Beach is a perfect tourist place, as you said the samudra beach is not crowded. Those who likes to spend there time peacefully can select this beach, but 3 beaches are so beautiful and so many accommodation options are there in Kovalam, from budgets to luxury hotels are there
